The NPL is a really exciting Men’s Doubles team event that I expect many, including from my home club of Yarm, will again support by attending, as it has been brilliantly in recent years by members.

The Hunters NPL Finals is an event that is firmly established within British Tennis and this year promises to be a major, exciting event once again, with Wimbledon 2012 champion Jonny Marray and 2016 Wimbledon sensation Marcus Willis both signed up and competing in this year’s finals. Other names confirmed are Liam Broady and potentially Dom Inglot – current Davis Cup players. As always adding his calm personality to proceedings will be Yarm’s Bill Perkins refereeing the event for the 15th time this year – such a huge shame it will be his last.

The event commences on (Easter) Friday 14th April with the round robin stages of the event continuing into Saturday, with some local/regional teams competing, and matches coming thick and fast throughout the two days. This produces four group winners to come through and meet the four seeded teams in the quarter finals commencing on the Sunday, with the Semi Finals and Final on Easter Monday.

Friday 14th April – £5/person

Saturday 15th April – £5/person

Sunday 16th April – £10 adult, £5 under 16s

Monday 17th April – £10 adult, £5 under 16s

With specialist courtside seating next to the action I think you will agree that the prices represents value for money.

For tickets please contact Mike Dixon (tournament director) on 07870 778490 or email

I also have an exclusive offer to Yarm members.

Thursday 13th April, preceding the commencement of the finals event, is a very special day. There will be a Kids Orange Ball and Kids Green Ball event commencing at 9.30am – 11.30am (David Lloyd Leeds) and the session will be led by Marcus Willis assisted by some other big names. Five courts will be used, and I have reserved four spots for Yarm junior members. The cost is £15/head, payable to me in advance.

The afternoon has a similar event but for adults with Marcus once again leading assisted by Jonny Marray (Wimbledon Champion) and will be £20/head from 1pm – 3pm with a top exhibition match at 3pm for everyone to watch. Four spaces can be reserved for Yarm adult members (who would have to be of a good club or team standard). One member has already signed up from the club to the adult session.

Once again payments are direct to Mike Dixon to secure places. I just wanted to offer this once in a lifetime opportunity to club members and so hope a few jump at the opportunity.
